E is the most common letter in the english language. Go for that one first.

The inventor of Morse code, Samuel Morse (1791-1872), needed to know the same kind of thing so that he could give the simplest codes to the most frequently used letters. He did it simply by counting the number of letters in sets of printers' type. The figures he came up with were:

2,000 W, Y

4,000 L

So maybe try things in the order they appear most often.

i wouldn't ask for all vowels first, it's a waste.

i'd go for a, e, maybe i, then s, r, n, t... take it from there. you can usually see word patterns emerging by then that can tell you what letters to guess.

then letters like...
